Why this site exists
Redundancy and long service leave are calculated at the worst possible time to be doing homework: you've just lost your job, or you're deciding whether you can afford to resign. The official resources are accurate but fragmented — the weeks are on a federal site, the tax on another, and long service leave is split across eight separate state laws. Most non-official calculators answer only a slice, and some get the state rules flatly wrong.
Payout Calc chains the whole calculation — entitlement, tax-free limit, withholding, net — in one place, for every state, and shows its working at every step. No accounts, no lead capture, nothing to sell. The calculators run entirely in your browser.
How the figures stay accurate
Every rate and rule is verified against primary sources — the Fair Work Ombudsman, ATO published schedules, and each state or territory's long service leave legislation — with the source and retrieval date recorded, then re-verified each July when new financial-year figures apply. Calculator logic is unit-tested against hand-computed worked examples before anything ships. The full source list is on the methodology page.
Who builds this site
Payout Calc is built and maintained by David Owen, based in Adelaide, South Australia, who writes the guides, builds the calculators and runs the July figure review. David Owen is not a lawyer, registered tax agent or licensed financial adviser, which is why every figure here is traced to a Fair Work Ombudsman, ATO or state legislation page you can check yourself, and why nothing on the site is presented as personal advice.
Who publishes this site
Payout Calc is published by Cactus & Cubby Marketplace (ABN 28 316 231 089), an independent Australian business based in Adelaide. It has no commercial relationship with any employer, union, law firm or financial product.
Independence
Payout Calc is an independent website. It is not affiliated with the Fair Work Ombudsman, the ATO, or any government agency, and nothing here is financial, legal or tax advice — for decisions that matter, verify with the official body linked on each page.
